I thought it was about time that you can put a face to the name! So here is a selfie with camera in hand trying to take wedding photos last week!
My real name is Chantal and I live with @shepherdman in Leicestershire, Midlands, UK. We are both keen amateur photographers, but still on a steep learning curve! There is much to improve. I am absolutely amazed at some of the photos out there. They inspire me to keep going and try to improve.
I started 365 on June 24th this year and have since got hooked. When I started the project I was shy and didn’t want anyone to see what I looked like. I lacked confidence and thought that my photos weren’t very good. I guess I always want to do better. So a big THANK YOU to everyone that finds the time to follow me and give me advice and encouragement. I really love this community and have started to look at the weekly themes and challenges and have even plucked up the courage to enter some.
I used to reply to all the comments I received but find that I just can’t do that anymore as I have to work full time for a few more years yet! Don’t want to wish the years away but can’t wait to retire so that I can spend more time on photography. I’d love to have time to go on some courses on different aspects of photography and to master PS. In the meantime I’ll keep practising here………
I really do appreciate you looking, commenting, criticising, and especially FAVing. I get so excited to achieve PP. Just makes my day! And the credit is all down to you, my friends. Thank you.
I think your photos are lovely. You shouldn't feel unconfident; you have an eye for beauty and for composition that seem to lead you into naturally taking good pictures. I know I enjoy seeing what you come up with and think that you are one of the people for whom 365 works well and is a stepping stone to other things. Well done on bravely taking the self-portrait here - this has come out very well!
Congrats on PP!! And nice to 'meet' you as well. No worries re commenting -- it's so hard to keep up and, like you, retirement sounds good to me but I don't want to wish the year to two ahead away!
Good to meet you! Lovely capture. Replying to comments can be so time consuming. My policy is rather to look at and comment on albums of those who comment on mine.
Awwww hello Chantal, lovely selfie and so nice to meet you. Your photos are tremendous, love seeing them. It is difficult to keep up with commenting but we all can only do our best. Now you need to get Shepherdman to post a selfie!!
Lovely to meet you Chantal. I really look forward to seeing your pics each day, they are always interesting and very well taken. You have a great photographers eye.
Great to meet you! Don't play yourself down...you have some stunning pictures! ...but I know how you feel, looking at some images and some participants who just seem to deliver one stunning pic after the other, I always think: wish I could have taken that, or wish I could have been there... So, we end up with some pictures that we are really proud of, some which other viewers seem to like, some which are just there because we had nothing else for the day...but in the end we are all striving for our own form of excellence, encouraging and being encouraged along the way...
Your text is so touching! I am so glad to meet you in person Chantal, and you are just how I imagined you - an intelligent, lovely face full of warmth and fun!
Hi Chantal! You don't look like anything I imagined! You're much younger and prettier! And you're not surrounded by a flock of sheep.
Nice to meet you!
Lovely write-up. It's great to read this, because after 3.5 years of doing this (see how hooked am I), I've forgotten that first feeling when you realise how special doing this in terms of the community. Nice self-portrait.
Just seen this!! Hello Chantel - lovely to meet you!! 365 is a great place with so many lovely supportive people!! It's lovely to see and hear how your confidence has grown!! Congrats on PP!!
oh how wonderful to see your smile - what a beautiful smile it is - I hope to get to meet you for real one day - your support has been amazing and made a big difference - you are very special :)
@annied Annie I hope we meet at your wedding, and that it happens over here! If not, I'd love to go back to Oz one day (was in Melbourne 4 years ago on holiday when my son lived there for 2 years) We absolutely loved Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. You are so lucky to live in such a wonderful part of this planet. Give Paul a virtual hug from me. Thanks for your kind words.
Hello! Thanks for the follow . . . and I just took a quick tour of your album and am now following you as well! I know what you mean about thanking everyone for commenting . . . but frankly, I much prefer to spend my time commenting on others's photos as my thank you and hope they do, too. Looking forward to getting to know you through your photos.
How interesting it has been to drift through your photos. You really are one of the best on this sight, and I feel honoured when you comment on mine! You have really improved enormously over a year or so- how have you done so? This is very encouraging to me! I love your style. And it's great to follow you! Yes, I am longing to retire too!
@lleo Thank you. It's so nice of you to say so. This 365 has become an addiction and makes you strive to do better. It's other, better people on this site that encourage me to get better. I love it!
