I have an edible cherry in a pot right outside the kitchen window which came into bloom 2 days ago. I had the day off work yesterday and kept seeing bluetits landing on it and so took lots of photos. What a great opportunity I thought. But, as I watched them, I realised they were pulling the blossoms off the tree! I have no idea why they do it as there is a pile of blossom on the floor.
That means less cherries for me......
So I have now hung rubber gloves (out of desperation, which didn't frighten them off) and about 10 cd's that turn and blow in the breeze. I hope that works or I won't get any cherries this year!
@lucypics I watched them. They just pecked buds and flowers off and let them fall to the ground! I have a pear tree in blossom just 12 feet away but they're not interested in that one. I really can't make it out.
This is a cute capture, but I can imagine that the blossom removal is very irritating. I wonder why on earth they do it. Could they see the blossoms as possible nest-building material?
Love this beautiful pic. of you. a great capture
