I spent ages just watching this Starling feeding her chick. She would fly to the feeders and call out to her chick to follow, then in he came and was fed by mum. She flew off at one point and left him sitting in the tray of mealworms. He hadn't got a clue what to do and shouted her back to him to be beak fed!
Amazing! Chantal, have you a full picture of your bird feeder. The children wanted to know what to buy me for my 50th and I've asked for a bird feeder and this looks exactly the style I'd like :) xx
Lovely capture. I have spent the greater part of the afternoon watching their cousins' antics down here! I love it when the starlings descend with their fledglings. I had the same thing yesterday with the mob moving off and leaving a youngster to her/his own devices but he seemed fairly advanced as he soon discovered there were worms between the paving slabs and gave them short shrift!!
