St. Cwyfans Church by shepherdmanswife

St. Cwyfans Church

St Cwyfans Church, the church in the sea.The church sits on a walled mound and it is surrounded by the sea at high tide off the south west coast of Anglesey. It was built in 1254 and had a congregation until the early 19th century. It is still used today for baptism and marriages.

I've been away for a weekend in Wales with a friend and this was one of the places we went to. A fascinating place to have a church where you had to have your sermons according to the tide!
what a lovely old church...looks very exposed, but I guess if it was built in 1254 it was built to last! Nice shot

The autumnal colours are really starting to show through now. Lovely layers and detail.

I would expect there are steps up to it but not seen from this side! Otherwise the bride would have to climb - or stand on her bridesmaids shoulders!
