This Grey Seal Pup had just been born, minutes before this photo. You can still see the blood on her back and in the sand behind her. Mum was cleaning her up. The Grey seals come up to the beach from the end of October to give birth to their pups. Lovely to witness.
How precious! In a LIFE magazine, I once saw photos of hunters slaughtering seals (I was a child) and have been traumatized ever since. I love all animals and could never do them harm or be with anyone who would.
@gardenfolk I remember those days too. Protesters would put paint on the baby seals to make their fur coats useless to those barbaric hunters. I just don’t understand how humans can be so cruel. The seals are just adorable. Within a day or two of being born their fur goes from yellow as in the photo to a beautiful fluffy white.
