Bougainvillea by shesnapped

Bougainvillea

So thrilled that my bougainvillea has finally put out some real brachts this year! As a rule, I plant it out each spring, then dig it up to overwinter inside. It doesn't get much water over the winter, but outside it gets watered by sprinklers. This year, rather than putting it in the ground, I left it in its pot and nearly killed it several times by forgetting to water it. I had heard that's how you get them to bloom, but I never believed it. Until now.
Sounds out a little like what you do to the Christmas Cactus. Great reward.

@joansmor I have noticed that too, Joan! You'd think we'd eventually take care of them. I saw a meme not long ago that said if our plants screamed as loud as our children, they'd get fed more often!

@shesnapped I use New Guinia Impatiens because they do bounce back when I neglect them. A little yelling might help.

Beautiful shot and lighting. We had a bougainvillea growing through the trellis on our patio but had to take it out eventually as it grows like wildfire in Australia and it grew through the trellis and we had to replace it.
