OMG!!! I feel like the most blessed person on earth tonight! May I introduce Valerie Skye in the purple hat, born at 10:27 this morning weighing in at 5 lbs 4 oz and measuring 17 1/2 inches, and Garrit Kael sporting a very fashionable yellow hat, born at 10:30, weighing 6 lbs 3 oz and 19 inches. They were born on their uncle's 17th birthday which he thought was "cool". It was quite a treat to see the teenager holding newborns, a treat for me anyway, but certainly not the most exciting thing in the world for him. Nonetheless, he was a really good sport about it, and I love him for that! He did get his own special time tonight when we took him out to eat at a nice restaurant to celebrate the anniversary of HIS birth.
Seeing my older son become a daddy ... wow. Just wow. Where did those 27 years go? As he stood on the other side of the nursery window holding his own son up for the first time for all of us to see, his eyes met mine, and mine met his, and we both got all choked up. What a moment. A lifetime of love in a split second. Words escape me, even now. The day was filled with love and gazing and holding and trading babies, snapping pictures, washing hands, texting, posting to social media. Then dh and the teenager and I went out to get a late lunch and bring the new daddy some food and coffee (mommy was on clear liquids only, bless her heart!) and suddenly the enormity of it all flooded me, washed all over me, and I was so overwhelmed I was ready to boo-hoo right in the Starbucks drive-thru just that quick!
How do you wrap up a day like today? How do you lay your head on your pillow like you've done thousands of other nights, finally able to let a few tears fall, and hopefully drift off to sleep eventually ... Thank You, God, for these precious gifts, for ALL my children and grandchildren, for their health and well being and strength. How did You see fit to bless me so greatly?
Wow what a day for you ... little treasures... enjoy make the most of them being babies... only seems like yesterday when my eldest grandy was this big and now she is off to High School...
