10 1/2 years passed between the birth of my first son and the birth of my second son. I was a different person and believed more about what I could do in life. So with the approaching first Christmas for him, I set about to make him his very own stocking. I traced the pattern of my stocking onto some paper, traced the pattern for the pieces of the Christmas tree, and went out to buy all the stuff I needed. What an experience! I've never considered myself a crafty person, so I began with some trepidation. But with the encouragement of my husband and my older son, this stocking was created. and the more I worked on it, the more I let myself go and added embellishments and gained confidence and had fun! In some crazy way, it was a game changer for me!
As I've looked back on this stocking over the years, I see all the mistakes I made, the things I wish I redo, the pieces of felt that were, unknowingly, not the best choices. ... Isn't that a commentary on life, tho? But Jonah loves his stocking, and I love him for that!
