Happy Birthday to my precious little ones! One year old today! It came entirely too soon! How in the world has an entire year gone by????
Dh made the cakes. Beautiful, rich purple for the Angel and blue for the boisterous, adventurous Chunk. Their personalities shone through perfectly - Valerie was ever the dainty lady, and Garrit was all in, no holds barred! Though they both went straight to the bathtub, Valerie would have been fine with a simple wipe down, but Garrit had icing all over his face, his hands, his neck, down his shirt and even inside his pants! Absolute complete opposites, those two!
And the teenager turned 18 today as well. But he didn't want to make the 8-hour drive again, even with the promise of his favorite Double Chocolate Kahlua cake and a trip to play paintball with his dad and big brother. Last minute decision on his end to stay home, but still, how does Mom/Nana make any choice that leaves her guilt-free??? She doesn't. He understood that the trip had already been planned, and he understood that he would be home alone ... well, not really because he has his friends ... but still. We'll get his cake made and have his friends over next weekend, but I really hated not being with him!

Don't feel guilty, I am sure an 18 year old would much prefer to spend time with his mates rather than Mum and other rellies and he can have another party next week.
