Max by shesnapped

Max

Well, I purposed to fulfill my get pushed challenge by Jay @jaybutterfield using this photo. However, when I went back to copy his challenge for my description here, I realized I didn't pay close enough attention! HA! I was thinking a portrait, but his challenge was actually an action shot of a person. Well darn!!!

The teenager celebrated his 19th this weekend with a bunch of friends over, something I love! (Winter break goes thru to the end of January.) He really does have a great group of friends, and I sure do miss having them over and being called "Mrs. Jonah's Mom"! Anyway, while they were eating some strange taco-bbq-type concoction that they like dh to make for them, I was in their faces with the fifty. It's funny how shy they get when you pull out the camera, but once they start seeing the shots on the back, they relax and open up to it and start having fun! They actually said that that was the most fun they'd ever had eating supper! Haha! SCORE!!!

So this is Max. Max LIVES in a coat and tie, dress pants and dress shoes. He even had pajamas at one time in the style of a suit. The other guys give him a hard time and try to get him into blue jeans and untucked shirts, but it's a hard sell. If you look at Max, he smiles - a very posed smile, genuine, but posed. If you point a camera at him, he smiles - the posed smile. Or he may duck, or hide, or look away....

But somehow, this happened. This is not cropped. I was truly in his face. And for once, maybe for the first time ever, I saw simply Max. Unreal.
@jaybutterfield Jay, this is what I did for my get pushed challenge. When I went back to your original post just a bit ago, I realized I didn't pay close enough attention, so I've not actually met the challenge. However, I've been planning all week on how to get the shots to meet the challenge I thought I remembered, and we ended up having a great time, and I was able to work with my new lens, make all the same mistakes I keep making over and over, and still get a portrait workout, which is something I need to keep doing in order to get any better at it. SO, thank you for the challenge that led to my doing the wrong thing, and yet still making progress that needed to be made! :-)
