I saw these blossoms and my first thought was that they were dogwoods, but they look different. After a lot of searching on Google I finally found that they are a Japanese or Asian variety.
Oh, so pretty in B&W! I really love these flowers. I have a Kousa in my front yard in full bloom right know. A while ago posted a pic of the flowers when they first started coming out and looked a little anemic but now they are all fully open and gorgeous like yours in this photo.
@meisen325 - I thought they looked familiar, but couldn't remember where I saw them. I looked and looked on the Internet before I could find a name. I found pictures, but the photographers didn't say what they were. Thank you for the kind comments Monica!!
Here's my picture. See how different the petals look? Almost like a different flower. I though there was something wrong with the tree (stunted or something) but after a few weeks it blossomed properly. I love all dogwoods. http://365project.org/meisen325/365/2012-04-19
@meisen325 - Yup that's them. When I saw these the were a very light green that I felt got lost against the green leaves, so that's why I chose to make mine b/w.
@pj - I agree Paula!! When I first got into photography I wondered, why in the world would people take b/w pictures when there is color film. Then I saw some of Ansel Adams' work and it completely changed my mind. Thank you again for all of your encouraging comments!!
