We decided to attend this year's Fireworks Festival in New Castle, PA. New Castle holds the "Fireworks Capitol of America" title, which is probably self-proclaimed. Until a few years ago, New Castle was the headquarters of two fireworks companies, Pyrotecnico and Zambelli Internationale. Zambelli has recently relocated to Florida. Each year, the two companies would take turns putting on the fireworks display for this event, usually the week of the Fourth of July, unless the Fourth hit near the weekend. If that were the case, it would be held the following weekend. Of course, there was a lot of competition and they would try to outdo one another to the spectator's delight. During the pandemic shutdowns, the festival was canceled. In the past two years, the event has changed to the Fireworks Fest and the event has been relocated to the center of town. Pyrotecnico is now the sole pyrotechnic company.
My wife and I had the privilege of working for Pyrotecnico for 9 years putting on fireworks displays in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
