Tufted Titmouse by skipt07

Tufted Titmouse

The Tufted Titmouse is common in eastern deciduous forests and a frequent visitor to feeders. The large black eyes, small, round bill, and brushy crest gives these birds a quiet but eager expression that matches the way they flit through canopies, hang from twig-ends, and drop in to bird feeders. When a titmouse finds a large seed, you’ll see it carry the prize to a perch and crack it with sharp whacks of its stout bill.
This is one of the many avian friends that have been visiting our feeder since winter arrived.
Sweet shot!! I like the tones.

Love this shot! And it really pops on black!

I see you use the same camera I do. Do you struggle with a lot of noise in your shots? Do you have issues with high ISO?

@milaniet - I know what you mean. I saw it land, raised my camera, focused, shot once and it was gone. Fortunately this is what I got with my one try

@shesnapped - Thank you Ashley! I noticed that we used the same cameras too. I do struggle with noise at times. I usually try to keep my ISO as low as I can 100. Sometimes when the light is a little low I will increase it to 200-400 without getting a lot of noise. I have gone as high as 800 without any really noticeable noise. Beyond that it really starts showing up. However, when I have been at circus or ice shows where there is a spotlight on the performers I will use the M (manual setting) and set the ISO to 1600, the aperture to f/5.6 or f/6.7 to try and get some decent DoF and set the shutter speed to 125th of a second and am able to stop action without getting a lot of noise.
There are some helpful YouTube tutorials on how to reduce noise:
Here is one I just found that might me helpful if you haven't retried changing these camera settings before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdlGkq68_84&t=194s

@skipt07 Good tutorial! I found another video right below that one in the YouTube link that was quite informative! Are you a Mac user? This guy uses MacPhun Noiseless, which I use also, but I never noticed the Adjust tab!

@skipt07 Do you turn on the High ISO noise reducer in your camera? Does it slow down your burst mode?
December 20th, 2016
@shesnapped - Thank you for the follow Ashley! I am returning the favor.
Yes and no! Yes I have it turned on and no it doesn't slow down the burst mode.
No I am a PC owner/user. I was just watching a YouTube video by Chelsea Northup who was giving a tutorial on reducing noise in Lightroom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPX82LMJMiI&t=339s
