in our area, when one wants to dispose of used appliance, one must pay a fee. As a result, you may - every once in a while- witness our thowaway society (culture) in action. I find that things like this disappear more quickly if you put a price tag on it! Some people would rather think they are getting away with something than taking something free!
But it is a sign of the times, I guess!
