i forgot which shrub this is but i've been keeping an eye on it and this time it's shown some promise that spring is indeed here.
last week i wrote a short story for submission in our legal firm's worldwide magazine. one hundred words, not one word more, not one word less; and using the words earth, spring and paper. claire @claireuk asked if it was in my blog. i can't put the story in my blog yet until after i'm notified whether they've chosen my story or not. but, i can print here a rough draft of the story ;-)

CHANGING FATE
The blue sky seems like a precursor. Irene stops walking and takes in the bright sunshine, the soft breeze and the cheeriness a perfect spring day brings.
Her mother’s words resonate in her mind: “We are born to this earth to pay for the transgressions of our ancestors, the same way our children and theirs will pay for ours.” The bullying, the rape, the beatings come to mind. “Accept your fate” were her last words.
Irene unfolds a piece of paper, a one-way ticket to Australia. She pats the small stirring in her belly. “We will change our fate.”

thank you for your views and comments; they are much appreciated. i shall try to play catch up again with your albums.
Spring may come after all! You'll have to do a follow up shot on the blossoms. Forsythia maybe? Best wishes on your story. Of course I think they'd be crazy not to publish it!
Fabulous story Vikki, captured my interest instantly, good luck let me know how you get on
