some professional photographers' ideas are a little bit off for me. but what do i know, i'm not a professional.
i was at the distillery district earlier this evening looking for something old to photograph (i'm sick doing selfies) and chanced upon a big party at the main hall. i thought it was a lavish wedding because all the women wore long gowns. nosey me i asked one of the guests and i was told it was a baptism party. holy momma! then strolling around the grounds, the celebrant was brought out for his official photo. the photographer produced this old luggage and placed the baby in it. then both parents and photographer tried to make him smile and look at the camera but he wouldn't. at first he started to cry, then he looked at me, i stuck my tongue at him and he sort of smiled, and that was the closest smile anyone could get out of him so i made the shot before he finally decided that he simply wanted out of that darn suitcase and wailed his heart out.
i'm breaking my personal rule with this shot here as i normally would not post a baby's photograph especially if i don't know them. but i thought he's 365-worthy, n'est-ce pas?
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are much appreciated.
Its absolutely gorgeous - the opportunity was there and you were polite enough to introduce yourself, so the photo is yours. The vintage colours work beautifully! fav
I think I'd also bellow my lungs out if I was placed in a suitcase! Love the vintage feel you have given this. Definitely one of those shots when you were in the right place at the right time.
That is wonderful!! What a great vintage feeling to the photo, and the baby is precious! Great, great capture....I bet you got a better shot than the photographer who set up the shot for the family! I love these "photo opportunities" when they present themselves unexpectedly...love it!
Love the vintage feel to this! I suppose it's not a bad idea to shoot the baby in a suitcase, especially for an informal outside shot. The inside lid of the suitcase is white/cream/light-coloured, which will make a great impromptu background and also the baby can sit propped up against the side and not go crawling off (if it's reached the crawling stage). I'm not sure if I'd want a photo of my child sitting in a suitcase but it's a personal choice. Love your shot though and well done for making him smile!
Not quite sure what the photographer was hoping to get out of this as a baptism shot; however I like your shot very much, the vintage feel suit it so much; Fabulous shot Vikki
Certainly a strange arrangement for a child, but wow, what a great photo opportunity! This is fabulous in sepia, I love the absurdity. For that I have to fav it!
