another perfume bottle from the antique market last sunday, one of the great deals i got. on top of the piano are two miniature crystal factice/dummies.
i have started reading up on perfume bottles as this self-challenge really made me curious about the many, perhaps thousands, of bottle designs. the bits i've read so far are rather interesting. so that, athough this series ends tomorrow, i may from time to time post photos of perfume bottles with extraordinary designs.
i remember as a little girl, my mother kept an empty bottle of perfume in a small chest, along with oodles of small pieces of fabrics and jars of beads. "blanchard" is a name i recall and i know i must look it up. i don't know what happened to that bottle but until i was in high school i remember seeing it.
i wasn't really into perfumes as a young woman. we were always told that people who wear perfume are not keen bathers or have actually bad hygiene practices. i have met a few who actually measure up to that description but the majority aren't, thankfully.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
"Crystal factice"? What is this - as you have pointed out it is in the background and there must be a reason! Nice SC to show the top of the bottle! Scent on me disappears within 5 minutes but I do love smelling it on others!
@northy - it is the pink piano. when i returned it, i asked if they can replace it with the grand piano. they just gave me a new one. you want the floor lamp? i think i saw it at the turtle pond store in niagara. we're going there today until sunday if i see one, do you want me to get it for you? i don't think it cost that much. this came free with the replacement piano. thank you, m. and happy new year to you, too. see you soon(?).
@summerfield awwwww... Sweet of you to offer Vikki, but no, I don't need one... I have a dollhouse standing lamp, a coat rack, garbage can and Fire hydrant and that's more than enough to keep me going for a while...
Not sure what things look like over next few weeks, but there should be at least one weekend with a free evening... Any idea of where to go? I must try and do some research... Maybe some sort of outdoor event?
Commented first w/o reading all your copy...shame on me This brought to mind a perfume bottle of my mothers from childhood when we lived in Hawaii. It resides in a carved wooden ginger blossom... Also, when once visiting New Orleans (hot and steamy in the summer, eh?!) we went through a museum that was an old home, On the dressing table were decanters (like huge!) for holding perfumes. Now THAT is a case of covering body odor! (Corsets, layers of underskirts, heavy materials...no wonder they also needed fainting couches!
@Weezilou - oh, the images and aroma that description formed in my head. i know a few women who would wash their rather voluminous hair once a week or once every two weeks and they use "leave-on conditioners"? being quite sensitive to strong odours/scents/aroma, i can smell them from a mile away. yowsers!
