looking out the kitchen window, the moon is full and bright and surrounded by thick clouds. it's now you see it, now you don't. it's -12 with a windchill of doomsday. i know. i went out to pick up my medication from the drugstore and i had to really bundle up and still that biting cold really depressed me.
i've been wondering what to shoot for today. yesterday was a cop out when i did the wwyd shot. today, i have no other excuse than the fact that i have the flu, been to the doctor and now i have to take 4 kinds of meds. gheez! anyhow, @northy suggested i do a series of the pink piano. well, moonlight. piano.
and there you have it. i don't know who of you listen to classical music (i do, especially when i am sickie) so here's a little ditty from mr. beethoven.
best viewed in black, if you are so inclined. mind you, this is a composite of 2 shots, the piano in black background, and the moon, in black background, too. i couldn't get them both in focus so overlay's the way to go.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
great moon, saw it didn't photograph it . Sometimes you just got to be lazy and just look. Take good care of yourself the flu can get seriously bad quickly. Glad you went to the doctor. Stay warm my friend ....
Jeff came home tonight and said, "Why aren't you outside taking pictures of the moon?!" Talk about a guilt trip- here you are sick and you got a moon shot and I was too wimpy to go out in the cold. Cute piano!
We are, likewise, having doomsday windchills. I know bc I was out in them today; have to be tomorrow; and am hoping all Wed's activities are cancelled. That's when it's supposed to be -35 to -40F.
I really like this shot! :) Wonderfully creative. Stay safe and warm!
I love the Moonlight Sonata and now I will think of this beautiful image every time I hear it. Well done to get it so perfectly however you had to do it!
I keep telling you I take a shot of whiskey and a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of lemon. Nuke it in the microwave, toss it back. Get under five or six blankets and sweat that out. I promise you it will work! I am so sorry to hear that you are still feeling ill.
Oh I can't begin to tell you how much I love this! It would be an awesome vintage cover for a piece of sheet music! (Do they still make beautiful sheet music?) And classical...yes yes yes! OK, there isn't much I don't like, but it has to have a melody...you can now read between my lines here...
Amazing, and you have the flu? This is so cool I wouldn't know how to begin to get a shot like this. I doubt I could pull it off when healthy. Great idea. A fav.
Hi Vikki you wanted to know why I took the other snap down - It was suggested I crop the side so I pulled it up to do that as I agreed with the comment. My new computer is a nightmare and it keeps doing things I don't want. It managed to delete the whole folder and I can't find where it is. Luckily I'm having a lesson on Thursday so maybe I'll find it again. My language is getting quite salty every time I'm on it.
We had a moon last night? I missed it, too busy creating the demo vid for the steaming ice shot. I suck at moon shots too, even with my 70 - 200mm lens.
@amandal - with your nikon, using your big kit lens, ISO 100, f/11, exposure compensation of -5.0 at least 2 minutes and you're good.
@nanderson - almost always chopin, vivaldi sometimes. thank you, nancy.
@olivetreeann - i asked partner to open the window. with that cold outside, ain't no way i'm staying out to take photos.
I really like this shot! :) Wonderfully creative. Stay safe and warm!

I sure hope you feel better soon, my friend.
