plumeria by summerfield

plumeria

the filipinos call this flower 'kalachuchi'. they used to grow in abundance in cities, and they flowered all year long. the flowers were often used in funeral wreaths so that its scent had always been associated with death. the last time i was in manila, the old trees were tired and skinny, but they still flowered although not as abundant as i remembered them to be.

this is for the colour element. i have no idea how to explain colour in photography, but i know all these colours do not clash but instead the blue of the sky highlights the pretty variegated pink of the plumeria and the green of the leaves gives the eyes a rest from the two other colours.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
In Australia we call these flowers Frangipani's. They have such a beautiful scent.
