in canada we have the "perpetual" or "permanent" stamps, where the denomination is indicated as "p". it means they can be used anytime regardless of the going rate for stamps. at present the regular price of a stamp is $1.00 but if you buy a pack of 10 stamps, the price is $0.85 a stamp.
and look! the queen is smiling and is wearing a yellow hat. how cool is that? the yellow is in support of marta's @whimsicalgrateful month of yellow project in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are extremely and gratefully appreciated.
Ours are fallen Forever stamps. Good until the price of the forever stamp goes up and you need more stamps. Still cheaper then the regular stamps. If you can afford to buy tones of them you could in the long run make out better.
@ceilidh - i can send him a few. the rabbit and girl skiing are no longer in circulation. i have i think some old american ones that belonged to my partner's mother. if your hubby's a collector, i'd rather he gets them because frankly i don't know what to do with them. although first i have to find them as i know it's somewhere in my book shelves. :-)
@summerfield Thanks for the offer Vicky, he would have so loved it. Unfortunately he's passed over. Although I've remarried every time I see my eldest grandson I see a young him looking at me.
I wonder if the queen knew? We have perpetual stamps too (called "forever stamps" here). I have no idea what they cost! I just buy a book when I need them- which is a lot less thanks to Facebook and emails! Good one for month of yellow!
