the I i had previously slated for this day was so not eye-catching. then this morning, i was looking around for a J here in my hotel room in calgary, alberta and i was quite taken by the geometric shapes of the lighting fixtures. this is the bedside lamp and as you can see the small cap I was just screaming to be photographed.
i am visiting the grandsons and seeing them for the first time since they left for alberta last november. this is also the first time i had ventured west of canada. on the flight here, there was the most incredible sunset way up above the clouds and fogs that covered most of minnesota and north dakota. it was like being in a snow covered field and this incredible sun was casting brilliant red and orange hues capped by the blue hour sky. i can only describe it to you because my camera was in my backpack that was in the overhead compartment and the flight was full and i had the window seat and the two gentlemen in the middle and aisle seats beside me were big hefty fellows it would upset the whole place if i had to get my camera just to capture the most incredible sunset ever. as louise @Weezilou said in one of her posts, "they don't understand..."

Weezilou also says "NEVER be without your camera when scoring the window seat!!!" As I read, I was going to tell you to tag your photo "planescape"...bummer we couldn't see it, too! In catching up, I just posted the view over Arizona on the 14th of Sept. Sounds as though you did, however, have a nice time with the grandkids! And I hear Calgary is amazingly beautiful! Lucky you! I must get there one day! Kudos for snagging another alphabet letter...and what's this I see?... Looks like a window I recognize down the street! Let's go see...
@Weezilou I had to include Louise here because she really DOES understand, and yes, when you score a window seat do whatever it takes to have the camera in your hands!! Now, granted, sometimes the windows are downright filthy and scratched, and sometimes you end up over the wing, but there is nothing like the feeling of regret when you come face to face with a gorgeous sunset from a plane and you know the camera is out of reach!! Lovely "I", btw.....damn that electric outlet!!!
