my kitchen counter is a mess and i'm blaming marloes, it's all her fault! well, she's hosting the macro kitchen universe challenge and because i've not been taking photos at all, i am forever cramming for a post. it was a choice between this and the hawthorn strainer. but i think this one has a bit more oomph! and it's in contrast to tomorrow's high key knife and fork shot.
don't you think it looks like felix the cat? or an alien, perhaps!
I love how you manage to keep on making a shot daily by hauling out what you have on hand! Such a great shot!
Vikki - I sat down last night when it got quiet to wish a Merry Christmas to all my friends on 365 and I noticed that Arthur Loosely is no longer on my Friend's List. It bothers me that I did not notice when he disappeared off of it even though I sent him messages every so often.
I am wondering who else may have disappeared off of it. I know Arthur was very old and he probably died, but It upsets me that I did not even know, that I was unable to post a last message to his family.
I wish that there was a way we could keep up with things like this - that there was a way that Ross could send a message to member's followers when events like this happen.
now that you have mentioned it, arthur was not in my follower's list when i was going through it yesterday (i make it a point every Christmas and new year to greet my followers, if you have noticed). he had been poorly and very old so maybe sickness or other had kept him out of 365.
i doubt whether ross has a way of knowing whatever happened to the members who has stopped posting. he sends an email to remind a member that if he/she stops posting that the account would be terminated and the photos removed, a fair exercise i believe, and he waits for a few days to do it. so when the member does not respond after a sufficient amount of days waiting, the account is then removed. now, if a member has become incapacitated or, god forbid, dies, perhaps a member of the family is able to access his emails and replies to ross about the member's condition. then again maybe not, so he wouldn't have a way of knowing. however, i don't think it should be ross' responsibility to inform the 365 community at large about such things, although what we may suggest to him is to maybe post a quarterly notice with a list of memberships being terminated for reasons of non-activity or non-use, then we are informed of who has left the site. or if we have established a personal connection with a specific member, then it's up to us to find out what happened. i wouldn't want to burden ross though with such things as i think he is now only interested in the technical side of things.
after 10 years of being on here, i have reached a point where only my OCD is responsible for the daily photos that you guys see. my brain as it gets older adamantly refuses to learn any more new things about photography. so while i am still very much into it and interested in it, i haven't learned anything else beyond what i already know. perhaps because i know my limits and i have reached it, or think i have reached it. i am entering my 10th year in the new year and i can tell you that the only reason i will continue is not so much that i love photography but i have no other things to do in my spare time besides it and reading. i review books for three authors before they get published which is taking most of my free time. so unless i get a kick in the butt my photography will be as boring as they come. i do get a few gigs such as engagements and family shoots whenever i feel like doing them. i still feel the same as before -- that this is a hobby and not a money-maker for me.
i hope you are enjoying the holiday season.
