seriously running out of ideas. what a start to year 12! my 52 paintings last year bombed at the last quarter, which was a pity. the 52 captures challenge almost didn't get completed. but sucker for punishment that i am, i am again looking for a challenge that i can challenge myself with this year.
my sister and i planned to have dinner tonight as from tomorrow until after two weeks, we are in lockdown and as such there is no dining-in in restaurants. but she had a headache and a scratchy throat and her doctor had told her to assume she has covid in the absence of a rapid test and she would need to isolate for 5 days.
we have the same directive at work, you have flu-like symptoms, assume you have covid and stay away from the office. my opinion is we will all get it at some point in time, but we will not die from it though. i say, restrict the movements of the vulnerable ones like the seniors, especially if they have underlying health problems. (wait a minute, i'm a senior!) but let the rest of the population go about as normal, and let businesses operate as usual.
I totally agree with you Vikki, let's treat this rotten pandemic like the flu where you go about your business and just stay home if you are unwell. I'm a bit hesitant of restricting the movements of seniors when I am one π
We are all stuck in the same cycle of questions, should I go out, is a mask and a vaccine protection enough or am I one of the ones with too many comorbidities?
Whatever,
Right now that other question,
How can I keep my photography challenging and growing?
Stunning shot, Vikki!
As far as photography is concerned, besides the 365 challenges and topics, I am looking into this 52 theme challenge https://youtu.be/bp8CJGylLK4 in case I am out of ideas. I plan to shoot on the given topic every day for a week, unless another 365 topic proves more interesting or inviting. @pandorasecho Dixie, have a look at that assignements list, if you wish.
Beautiful!
Echo uour sentiments about TFV @monikozi I'm doing the 52 here, 5+2gang AND the aywc ones over there. Mad or What?? I need 52 ( may be 12) prompts for art, there's s limit to triangle boats and flowers and I've reached the limit
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Heheeee.... Mad????? Neveeeer!!! It's good you can embark on all those!
I did the 52 week challenge here last year. The one suggested on yt - I'm doing that with a friend who is not here.
@monikozi - the list looks a bit interesting, i might do it with you as my saturday post. i've also signed up for the 52 frames but the prompts are given on the week not in advance so i wouldn't know how that would go as far as fulfilling the prompts. i'm also doing mel's 52 captures. that's three challenges every week. any self portraits i can do in conjunction with my 5+2 assignments. no challenges for me this year, unless, you know, ordered to by SOMEONE! π
@kjarn - only if the senior has an underlying health problems, although if you are active and healthy, you might still want to be cautious. we are told here that seniors are "vulnerable" to diseases as our immune system deteriorates as we grow older. although i don't consider 'vulnerable' as an apt word to describe me. π€£
@pandorasecho - in my old age, it's the economic aftermath of the pandemic that i'm afraid of. like the 1918 pandemic, which took years to recover, it seems history will be repeating itself, especially that people especially the politicians and policy makers have grown more stupid.
@monikozi thanks for the link to the YouTube 52 week list, I have subscribed and will be sent each weeks assignment, great idea when you are out of ideas
This is a stunning shot, Vikki! Your still life compositions are always so elegant and beautiful!
I agree with your opinion about going on with our lives without lockdowns. They are killing businesses and making society irritable
This is A FAV, BTW!.
Beautiful focus on the pearls and what an absolutely elegant image! I love the shallow DOF.
Sorry you had to miss supper with your sister. It seems as if Covid is the new benchmark for illness and people who would have otherwise gone to work or gone out in public are now realizing how unsafe it can be no matter what the disease.
Would I be the SOMEONE You are referring to? Because I never ordered you, I merely suggested.
@louannwarren - i think it started in 08 or 09, but it was already in full swing by january 2011 when i joined. i was dragged here 'screaming' by two young ladies from the office but by march the two of them were done whereas my OCD kept me going. π
@farmreporter - yes. they can impose for us to work from home whenever possible (less energy consumed from all those lights in big buildings), or wear a mask or physical distancing, but let us decide if we want to go out for dinner or go shopping. they can impose on the number of people in a shop or restaurant, but for heaven's sake, let the businesses carry on as usual, especially the small businesses. i recently found out that there is a shortage of waitstaff because most of them are receiving money from the government and why would anyone work if there is free money coming?
Working backwards - always love your still lifes! And this one is not exception!
And with regards to my question on the other photo, I now learned that you indeed will be doing the 52 frames!
It is very elegant, love this shot. fav.
I agree, I think most will get it and most won't be hospitalized and even very few will die. I think it is time to stop all these lockdowns and controls.. They have not been effective and has done a lot of harm. I think it is up to each individual regardless of age etc. to make their own health decisions. Although never diagnosed I am certain I have had it and also been around people who tested positive. I am thankful I have a healthy immune system.
