i had to pick up something at my sister's downtown so i thought i'd bring my big girl camera and do some panning shots for this week's "blur the action" prompt for 52 frames.
this, as you can see, is a failed panning shot (well, semi-fail, if you will), but i have good excuses (of course, i do!😜). first off, the rink was very crowded and almost everyone was wearing dark jackets. however, at the outset, i have picked up my target: this guy in yellow jacket who was zipping in and out of the crowd, sometimes even crouching through linked hands. but i must say he was quite good at dodging people no matter how fast he was skating. when there was a thinning of the skaters and the yellow jacket showed up, he was slowing down. second, by this time, my hands were frozen numb and i couldn't feel my fingers. it was, you see, -12 and i was shooting without gloves. third, i forgot that the nikon makes strange whirring noises after being in this temperature for long.
this also satisfies week 2 of the 52 captures challenge which is golden triangle composition.
The perfect subject. He stands out well amongst the crowd. I feel like this was a success because there’s a nice sharp focus on him and everyone else is blurry
