St David's Church and the River Irfon

I didn't cheat today. It was a dark, dreary, drizzly day but I walked to the end of the drive and took this picture of the church with the river in the foreground. I thought it came out quite well given the conditions. This particular shot doesn't work well in summer when the leaves are on the trees.
Some shots do work better in winter; I took one in and around St. Oswald's in Durham that only works in winter; This is a fabulous view, very tranquil

@claireuk Thank you Claire. Yes, you're right, it is tranquil. We are lucky to have these amazing views. The church is lovely, it's about 400 years old and there's no electricity.

@susiemc So how does that work? Do they have their own generator or candle power - I'm ever the romantic!

@claireuk Mostly the church is only used in the daytime for weddings and funerals so no extra lighting needed (but it is rather dark inside). There's also a carol service each year and that's just done by candlelight. It's lovely. Sometimes they use one of those portable gas heaters which use a small cylinder but usually you just wrap up warm, all year round.

@lynne53 Thank you Lynne. I agree, churches are always a good subject. This one's easy because I don't have to go far.

@pamelaclarke Thank you Pamela. Yes, you should come in January one year. As you know, Kilsby has a special charm all year round.
