Horse Chestnut Tree

Once I was a magnificent Horse Chestnut Tree and now look at me, just a pile of logs!
This tree got a fungus infection and died slowly from the top down. Although it was a magnificent tree is was far too close to the house. It blocked the light and took the nutrients and water from the soil. We're not sorry it's gone. We have too many trees.
Do you have a log burner? These will burn beautifully won't they. I do love a log fire but we only have one in Spain:0(

@claireuk Yes, we have a log burner in one room and an open log fire in another and yes, these logs should burn beautifully.

@virtualbrownie Thank you. Yes, it will definitely help. A log fire makes the house seem more welcoming too.

@lynne53 We can always keep warm during a power cut and we have been known to put a pan on top of the wood burner so we can have hot drinks, soup etc.

A pile of logs is a beautiful thing. As the tree wasn't healthy (or safe) its the best result isn't - which reminds me, I must ask get some more logs in!

@pamelaclarke @craig3f2 I'm just pleased that 'firewood' doesn't feature anywhere in my job description!
