The Very Old and The Very New

I do like modern architecture but it does sadden me to see how a building like the Tower of London, which should be quite an imposing building, is completely overshadowed by these modern buildings. The one right next to the Tower is known as The Gherkin, the tall one in the middle The Cheese Grater and the one on the left The Walkie-Talkie.
Lovely cityscape

It's only when you see them like this that you can see how dominating the new ones are Sue. The Tower looks really small in comparison. My daughter worked at the Tower last Summer in connection with her work for The Crown at Buck Palice. She doesn't work there now but I think she enjoyed it.

@happypat It must have been wonderful working at the Tower. Lucky young lady. I too love the Gherkin. I posted a close up on the 17th October http://365project.org/susiemc/365/2014-10-17. It was taken on the pavement just outside daughter Niki's office. I must go to the very bottom of it one day.

Fab photo showing the contrast between the old and new buildings. I also like the river wall.

It could almost be superimposed onto the picture! I'm not sure how I feel about what's happened. We must have progress but....

Yes it is sad that the new imposes on the grand old. But unfortunately, that's life! great capture :)

good cityscape. I like some of the new buildings, but these tall buildings do overshadow the historical ones. I remember when the OXO building was the tallest building south of the river and when you could see for miles from the top of the fire of London monument
