Caban Coch Dam, Elan Valley by susiemc

Caban Coch Dam, Elan Valley

The dams, reservoirs and 73 mile aqueduct of the Elan Valley were built a hundred years ago to supply desperately needed clean water to Birmingham. This is the first of 6 dams.

When Martha was here we had a photography day at the Elan Valley and then when the children came we went again, this time to walk, for them to play in the playground and to have coffee/hot chocolate and cake in the café.

I like the angle you've chosen for this shot. There is a real feeling of motion in the water flowing over the dam and away down that channel ( whatever it actually should be called).

@gijsje Thanks Beb. The water doesn't often come over the dam in fact this was the first time this winter but when it does it creates great photo opportunities.

@gardencat Thank you Joanne. I took photos from various angles but I particularly liked this one. I may post another one looking in the opposite direction.
