A tiny part of Scunthorpe Steelworks and the local pond / nature reserve. The pond is the result of former iron-ore mining for the steelworks, mining ceased there many years ago and the area filled with water creating this pond which has seen all sorts of wildlife attracted to it.
Perhaps winter was the wrong choice of season to illustrate the contrasts, I will return in a few months when all is lush and green!
Nice contrast between nature reclaiming her land and the factory in the difference still billowing smoke into the air. Nice reflections on the water too. Be interesting to see a summer image when the bushes and trees have woken up and regained their color š
Great shot ... we have a Steel Mill near our town .. the Iron sands are mined just a few k's from our farm .. it is then piped to the mill about 12 Klms away ... can be a bit of a blot on the landscape but it brings alot of work to the area..
