Thank you for your very supportive comments on yesterdays self portrait shot.
@caterina asked who took the shot, so I re staged it and got Gary to take a photo of me taking a photo of me.
Please excuse the rather unladylike pose in the middle shot but there is a huge hole under the fountain, so to avoid falling in it, I had to stand on the edge and lean forward to grip the rock. The main picture is the shot I edited in gimp 2.8.
Most weeks the challenge themes involve this madness, I'll set up the camera on a tripod, set to 10 x burst and ten second timer. I then run round, count to around 12 then run back to see how the images look on the screen while they are processing. Normally I will repeat this around 15 times. And then I edit it beyond recognition :)
these antics sound quite familiar! although I don't have the ability to set the timer and do burst shots together - so I get a lot of exercise going back and forth to press the button. It is great to see the process Suzanne - secrets revealed. The end result really does look so convincing.
Hats off! Have you thought about using a remote on a delayed response? Then you can stay in the same position, fire it, tuck it out of sight, repeat a few times and then check the results ... but then I'm lazy and your narratives always make me laugh, so please carry on as you are!
You are an amazing photographer. I love seeing how this was accomplished, I'm much to lazy - prefer to walk outside my front door and take a picture of a pinecone:)
Haaa - here I was thinking how dedicated you were to go and hang over a ledge!! Seriously though - this is seriously clever!! You must have a wonderful ability to visualise 3D outcomes in order to successfully stage manage these shots. No wonder your selfie series is so spectacular - congratulations and thanks for providing us with awesome images! :)
