Mevagissey Harbour by swillinbillyflynn

Mevagissey Harbour

I hope everyone likes shots of fishing boats and harbour views as I run a shop in Mevagissey Cornwall, so this is where I spend most of my days. I should also warn you that there may be seagulls and a lighthouse or too.

Thank you to everyone who has left nice comments and stars over the last few days. Also thank you to all those new followers. it is all very much appreciated. I've not been on 365 project very long and you guys have all been very friendly and welcoming..... not to mention inspiring. It's a great place to be.
Bright & cherry. Lovely shot!

What an amazing looking place.....so much to see in this shot, my eyes are darting all over it tring to take it all in.....you must be spoilt for choice on what to take pictures of if this is what you look out on most days.
I'm so happy to be doing 365 too.......I hafta say it's quite literally made an impact on my life.
The peeps in here with us are genuine and lovely and this project isn't all self absorbed like most social networking sites.

I for one won't mind if they're all as pretty as this! Mevagissey is another Cornish gem I've yet to visit!

I don't mind seeing this from time to time at all! So, keep posting :) I like it how houses and boats seem to be "one", not two different worlds.

Stunning photo and love all the busy things in it!! I especially like the curve of the hill all the homes and businesses are on. Lots of great colors and details!! FAV!! Can't wait for the light houses!!!

Love the colors, the shapes, and all the potential stories this scene inspires. You have a nice view from your workplace.

A Great shot

@monty147 Thank you. It is always a view that cheers me up even on the darkest days. :)

@geeish1488 Thank you. We have had a shop here for 13 years now and never get bored with the views. Prior to coming 365 Project I spent 3 years on a similar site (Blipfoto) but have to say that 365 Project is better in a lot of ways. More friendly. Blipfoto was a bit too keen on petty rules and restrictions. I have found. Also 365 project has a more international feel to it. I love seeing pictures from all over the world. I'm glad I made the move.

@kristenrpics One of the most picturesque fishing villages in the world. I have always loved Mevagissey.
February 22nd, 2015
@tillystartedit Well worth a visit if you are in this part of the world. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@yaorenliu Funny you should say that..... I actually sell a range of post cards and greeting cards which use my photographs of Mevagissey on them.
February 22nd, 2015
@nicholas It is a very busy bustling village. It is a working fishing village and there is always something going on. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@pusspup Glad to hear it. We are in the shop 7 days a week in the busy summer tourist season, so I don't get much chance to photograph anything else in the summer. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@sgtpepper So whereabouts did you used to live Alf. I could get a shot of your old street so you can see how things have changed since you left. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@susie1205 I spent most of my life wishing I lived in Cornwall. 15 years ago I gave in in moved down here. Wish I'd done it 20 years earlier. :)

@photohoot Even after 12 years of having the shop here. We stillgo for morning walks around the harbour. Never get bored with it. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@tonygig You should come back one day. It never changes..... and the choir still sing on the harbour.
February 22nd, 2015
@jennyjustfeet Mevagissey does seem to have it's own microclimate. It is often sunny here when it's dull elsewhere. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@vera365 Most of the houses are owned by the fishermen so it is all interconnected. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@cashew It is a busy working fishing village and there is always lots going on. :)
February 22nd, 2015
Sadly we are little way back from the harbour so have to go for a walk to see the views. But there is an advange to that...... We don't get flooded like they do down on the harbourside. :)
February 22nd, 2015
@swillinbillyflynn Ah, the only thing that will have changed up there is that they won't have stopped partying ;-)

Mevagissey is a very, very special place to me and I visit often. Spent most of my childhood holidays there as my dads twin lived there and worked for china clay. He was murdered in Shilly Alley, Mev, about 14 years ago and his ashes were scattered from the lifeboat, just outside the harbour mouth. As I child, I referred to Mev as 'falling off the edges', as Mick would drive teasing close to the edge whilst I squealed in the back! haha :)

@clairejoseyphotography Have you been in my shop? The Lavender Pillow. It's the Alternative/Gothic/Pagan shop with the witches hanging outside. :)

February 22nd, 2015
I've been looking at your photos on the New Faces page, now I just have to comment! I commented on your ferns at Heligan and this is another gorgeous photo. Like many others I have memories of childhood holidays here....fave and follow!
February 23rd, 2015
@Cherrill I used to come on holiday to Cornwall from when I was kid. I then started bringing my kids on holiday here. So eventually I just gave in and moved here. Never regretted the move for a moment. :)
