Boo to a goose. by swillinbillyflynn

Boo to a goose.

People often say that "He wouldn't say boo to a goose". I have often wondered where the expression came from and what exactly the repercussions would be if you actually said boo to a goose.

So when I came across this chap, I decided to do some practical research into the matter. Not being the timid sort, I went straight up to him and said "Boo!".

He didn't seem particularly perturbed by this and his only reaction was to dip his beak into the water thus making all sorts of pretty ripples.

So my research has concluded that even the most timid of people (as the saying suggests) can indeed say boo to a goose and not be overly concerned about the consequences.

However, not being an ornithologist...... I have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind, that this research finding might be challenged on the grounds that my subject was actually a gander...... or possibly even a duck.
Wonderful capture with great detail. I particularly like great ripples in the water.

Far be it from me to cast nastursiums on your ornithological skills, but this a damned good shot - love those reflections.

Guess the research findings could have other grounds for being challenged too :) Excellent story and beautiful shot.
