The Lost Gardens of Heligan. 200 magical acres of formal Victorian gardens, jungle and farmland which was abandoned for and left to run wild for more than 70 years following the outbreak of the first world war. The gardeners and grounds men all went to war in 1914 and never returned.
In 1990 The gardens were rediscovered and have over the past 25 years been painstakingly restored, renovated and rejuvenated by Tim Smit and his dedicated team. If you are ever in the Mevagissey area, you really must visit the gardens, they are a real treat.
My eldest sons favourite gardens, he was always on about how lovely it it when on holiday down there. He bpnever goes now because he lives in NZ. Nice to see it here.
