Once upon a time, two sandhill cranes went for a walk on the beach at night. It was calm and they had the beach to themselves, except for a few other birds. But one of the cranes was getting really annoyed at the other one. No matter how quickly it walked, its partner stayed ahead. Finally, it got really really really angry and just squawked and squawked and squawked!
PS to 365 friends...thank you so much for your wonderful comments and favs on my Magic Meadow photo yesterday. It was on PP today - very exciting. And thank you for your advice on the splinter. You were right on target with Epson salts and hydrogen peroxide. My morning started at the medical center...see other post today if interested in full story ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-06-10).
OMG...I don't know what to say!! This is incredible. I love all three, but especially the middle one. This is like looking at an oriental panel. FANTASTIC. My favorite FAV!!!! There should be a button for that!
Very nice story.I understand that crane. I hate when I'm left behind... which it's most of the time since I'm busy taking pictures... haha. I figure you had a problem with a splinter, and hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for your wonderful response! I really appreciate your viewing and commenting. They were amazing -- I just wish I could get closer, but when I do, they fly off. They are so elegant to watch. @anazad511 LOL! I bet that's the case for most of us! Hadn't thought of it til you made the comment. @eyesmile Gena, thanks so much for the enthusiastic fav! @jsw0109 I don't think it was a dance -- it was more like he (or she) was stretching, but didn't seem to be attracting the other one's attention at all. @kareenking Thanks Kareen for the fav!
Thank you all for such nice comments on these photos. I agree that the pose in the middle is the most dramatic -- I had thought about a story that involved them telling jokes as it also looks like it might be laughing. thanks also for the favs, Judith, Rachel, Pam, DMT, Carol, and Amrita!
@amandal Hey Amanda -- thanks for letting me know. I'm thrilled!!! @sailingmusic That means a lot, Myrna, coming from you! Your bird shots are my 10 on a scale of 10 to try to shoot!
