Returning to Barcelona (well, to the photos, anyway) for a brief post of a photo I've been working on for a bit. Junko and I were there for a very quick trip in December and took several shots of skateboarders. I processed this in b&w using Nik Silver Efex and it was both of our favorite of our series. I had to clone in a missing line as well, that somehow disappeared in the high contrast processing. Thanks to Jane, Eric, and Ross for your earlier critique that led to this final version!
@jgpittenger Whoohoo!!!!! SO excited! That is the shot (the 3 that made the image) that I took because you said you were going out to photograph and it inspired me to get out and do something. THANK YOU!!!!
@jyokota The whole time I worked on it, I was reminded of such an amazing trip and a remarkably fun set of flights home! When do I ever think of being on a plane as fun???
This is a wonderful action shot. The background grid effect situates the skater neatly into an elongated triangular shape within a rectangular frame. The high-key b&w is fabulous with the white tee-shirt visible only in the imagination and thanks to the interrupted background lines. I think this a powerfully expressive shot, one I like very much. Fav.
I simply live this Taffy! I have always wanted to create a shot like this but have no idea how to do it. Brilliant editing! Huge Fav! Congrats on TT! What a,star!
@creampuff Thanks Eve! It didn't have nearly the impact in color - even though there wasn't much color in the original. The line above his shoulder had faded to white so that created a weird sense which is what Eric, Jane, and Ross all noticed immediately. Glad I know how to clone now - thought usually I'm cloning out!
Oh, yes! Very cool piece of work. The over all composition is great and I particularly like the implied lines of the skateboarder's arms and torso, just enough info. given for the viewer's brain to fill them in. Fav.
