Leave Me Alone! by taffy

Leave Me Alone!

Swan in foreground (Swan #1) tried to bite swan in background (Swan #2), who was none to pleased. #1 fluffed up and seemed to threaten Swan #2, who looked rather chastised in the end as it swam along peacefully next to Swan #2 until they were no longer in photographing range. It was fascinating...wish I had time to process the sequence!
You've caught them in such unique positions- almost like a ballet. Good action shot!

Fascinating... the swan "politics" are nicely displayed.

A great capture of their antics.

What @ludwigsdiana said. I didn't know you had swans in Beaver Island.

Great swan shot.

A bit of a domestic going on here by the look of it. Maybe she had a headache, ha ha.

A lovely candid and I love @onewing explanation of the scene !!

Forgive me but I am an accountant so numbers catch my eye. Do you see anything wrong with this - #1 fluffed up and seemed to threaten Swan #1, Good shot

Nice composition and timing.
August 5th, 2018
Wonderful capture and timing👍💕

@joysabin You're so right...swans are the meanest critters! They have a reputation here for killing the baby loons.
August 5th, 2018
This is beautiful and the timing is perfect.
August 5th, 2018
they always look so graceful no matter what they are doing
August 5th, 2018

Beautiful dance. even there is an anger in it.
August 5th, 2018
What a great shot Taffy. I love the positions of each swan. So unusual and original.
August 5th, 2018
Awesome shot
August 5th, 2018
They are beautiful as you have shown them - but from your story it sounds as if they can be bullies.
August 5th, 2018
Love the way the red beaks show up & the sea is a lovely greeny blue!
August 5th, 2018
What fun to watch the argument and its resolution! Don’t you wish you spoke Swan to know exactly what they were saying? 😉
August 5th, 2018
Love your focus and their poses.
August 5th, 2018
@casablanca I have a feeling what they were saying would not be printable in polite society!
August 5th, 2018
Awesome picture.
August 5th, 2018
@taffy Ha ha, I suspect you may be right!! 😀😀😀
August 5th, 2018
Wonderful focus!
August 6th, 2018
Great timing!
August 6th, 2018
Wonderful action shot, just love the body language on the two of them. Just as well you don't speak Swan though. Swans can be quite aggressive, I wouldn't want to take one on.
August 6th, 2018
beautiful the way the light is landing on the swans. fav
August 6th, 2018
Great action shot.
August 6th, 2018
Amazing detail xx
August 6th, 2018
Excellent capture, I love the detail on the wing feathers.
August 6th, 2018
Lovely action shot! Love the shapes of their bodies! I wouldn’t want to get too close to an angry swan! One came out of the water after Finlay once and gave me the fright of my life!
August 6th, 2018
Stunning! FAV

August 9th, 2018
Love the puffed up wings!
August 10th, 2018
@pamknowler Eek! seeing one come after my pup, I'd be terrified too.
August 10th, 2018
Lee
Super shot.
August 10th, 2018
Beautiful FAVorite!
August 11th, 2018
i think that they are both female so it must be a territorial matter. territorial as in place or probably one was flirting with the other's mate. it is fascinating to watch them, the mating, the fighting amongst themselves, and they chase dogs because they feel threatened, especially when there are young ones about. great piece of action you captured here. aces!
