The giraffe benefits greatly from the 'tick bird' whose meals come from eating the ticks that burrow into the giraffe's fur. Posted in consideration of all celebrating Valentine's Week, and fitting the pattern/shape theme for flash of red this month.

Stunningly good photo Taffy, and once again I have learned something I did not know previously. You must have been on a very tall ladder to get this perspective.
When I go to zoo, I always skip photography of giraffe, As the arrangement in Wellington does not allow me to take the full body, Only the head and neck could be uninteresting. Here, you have the perfect one with the bird perch on top looking at the leaves. Love it.
BTW, I think I'll be in DC in March. Will cherry blossoms be out then?
