Not Quite

You may recall my dismay when my smoothie place closed for good. It was a tiny little shop inside an office building that had been bought and sold several times over the years, but the new owners always kept smoothies on the menu.

They were exquisite. It wasn't one of those situations where you say to yourself that it's good enough for what you can expect living abroad. Their smoothies easily rivaled any ones I had back in the states. So it was a big blow to see them close.

Recently I spotted that my favorite ice cream/frozen yoghurt place added smoothies to their menu. I decided to give it a try and it wasn't very good. It was obvious that the workers have never made one before. The owner was there to help out and it seems like they may still be working out some of the kinks, so perhaps it will improve in the future.

I chatted with the owner a little bit, but I was actually terrified to speak with her. I've realized the older I get, the more I do my best not to support business which do bad things, have bad policies, or are run by bad people. While the owner seemed like a very nice lady, I was a bit too scared that I would find out that she is a monster and then have to stop patronizing her establishment. Perhaps ignorance truly is bliss.
