We had not seen any Wedge Tail Eagles up until we left Normanton and headed south to Cloncurry. From then, we were engaged in a constant cat and mouse game of me trying to get a decent photograph of one and they doing their best to make sure I didn't.
We tried drive by shots and lost count of the number of times we pulled up and I would sneak back towards them only for them to fly off. I ended up with hundreds of bad shots of them and precious few decent ones.
They certainly won the battle hands/wings down.
This one is a drive by shot taken through the car windscreen.
Have a look at that wingspan. They are magnificent birds
Well done Terry.I have not succeeded yet !! Coming back from Townsville last month early morning, sitting on 110km and there was one eating on the side of the road.I had never seen one between here & Townsville so by the time it registered / too late with a car behind me. Fav
Terrific elusive capture! I know how you feel as I wanted to photograph one on my trip (that I won't mention to you!) but we saw very few and what I got was not clear - but I will post one when I get to it :)
@gilbertwood I did consider posting a collage of near misses; half a wing cut off, a tree in the way at a critical time, slightly blurred etc but I don't think so.
