What the??

Back on 11 Jan, I posted a couple of shots of a beautiful spider that had taken up residence on our back patio. See https://365project.org/terryliv/365-year-3/2018-01-11 and https://365project.org/terryliv/directors-cut-2/2018-01-11

The female remained in the web for a couple of weeks after those pics and continued to decrease in size and then disappeared at which point we took down the web and opened up the sac to be confronted with thousands of tiny spiders.

OMG..... I know spider's have their place in the food chain but if that was near my house i would burn them all.

@deborah63 Rhoda wanted to spray them and I wanted to put them somewhere protected to see if we could raise them. While we were having this fierce debate, the ants discovered them and had a picnic on baby spiders and eggs. :-(

Wow, if they'd all survived you'd be overrun with spiders, sad for the babies, but the ants have to eat too.
