My Brisbane 7 - Regatta Hotel

The iconic Regatta Hotel is a landmark pub on Coronation Drive in Toowong. The present hotel was built in 1886 but suffered inundation during the 1898, 1974 and 2011 Brisbane floods. It is a favourite haunt of university students from the nearby University of Queensland.
Looks a lovely old building Terry ,I can imagine those balconies full of people on warm balmy nights! It looks like a large hotel?

A beautiful building. Reminds me of something I'd see in New Orleans or Lake Charles Louisiana. Has that beautiful old historic look about it that I love.

Winner of the 2013 Hotel of Year Award, huh? Must be a great place to stay. I'm currently looking at interior shots of it on another webpage - very nice. Love the iron-laced exterior. Reminds me of the fancy river boats that run on the Mississippi River in the summer months. Thanks, Tour Guide.

And thanks for the laughs when I read your comment on my macro Orchid. I couldn't help but think the words 'wonderful' and 'beautiful' when I was looking at the exquisite bloom through my viewfinder. Orchids are gorgeous, aren't they.

A beautiful building and still unspoilt by modern hotel signage. Its awful to see lovely Aussie pub architecture marred by hotel chain and TAB signs. Great capture.

What a grand old building. Good to see it survived the Brisbane floods.

@dianeburns @onewing @landownunder @digitalrn @radiogirl @lyndemc @hermann @kiscsillag @vegansusan @moxy @richardhoeg Thanks everyone. Yes the Regatta is a lovely building. One of the few that have survived demolition for the sake of "development". I wanted to show one of the pics taken from more to the right so that the side of the building could be seen better but that stupid light pole intruded and cut the pics in half so I had to go with a front on shot. I should have mentioned also, that the pic was SOOC. I didn't do anything to get that sky colour. I
