A Study in Wing Feather Colours by terryliv

A Study in Wing Feather Colours

This is the colour version of the shot I posted on Friday - http://365project.org/terryliv/directors-cut/2015-02-27 . A slight improvement don't you think? And as you can see, my description of the wing colours wasn't exaggerated.
As I said on a previous posting, the majority of the birds were in their post breeding season moult but this one was obviously a juvenile.
When I got home and saw the shots, I got all excited. The wing feathers usually just show up as red and blue and I thought I must have been the first photographer to properly capture the wing feather colours or I had just discovered a new sub species. However, I then learned that the juvenile Crimson Rosella displays significant green plumage which disappears with maturity. What a bummer.
Best on black
Sam
Instant FAV! He is a real beauty :)

The colours really are amazing. It is a bummer you didn't discover a new sub species.

Fabulous, definitely better in colour. As I said about the other shot, I am a big fan of b&w, but birds and flowers should always be in colour.

A real rainbow in this detail. Well done. Fav

Definitely better in colour, the pattern is beautiful though in b&w. I have a close friend that is colour blind, all he sees is shades of grey and black. Can you imagine not knowing what colour is? The red is just so vibrant.

@bella_ss One of the reasons for my dislike of B&W is exactly that Sheralee. Our son is badly colour blind. He would give his right arm to be able to things in colour. His childhood years are riddled with funny/sad stories relating to him not being able to distinguish colours. Yet here we are taking the colour out of things. Well maybe not his right arm but you know what I mean

@terryliv My friend doesn't know what colour is so he doesn't miss it. I feel sadder for him than he does. He also has some funny stories to tell like not realising that Schindler's List was a b&w movie until he noticed the different tone when the little girl had the red coat on. I can understand how sad you would feel for your son though. Hopefully they will eventually come up with a fix, you never know what medical science will do next.

Wow what a knockout colourful shot!! Fabulous bird!! How sad that you son is colour blind - something I have never really thought about but how drab the world would be if B&W was all we saw. I will look around me with new eyes and really appreciate how lucky I am to be seeing such beauty!! Fav for this gorgeous bird!!

Once again I heed Poppo's suggestion and am justly rewarded. Much better than the B&W. Can you get him in a crystal ball?
