These Antarctic beech trees up at Springbrook national park in the Gold Coast hinterland are a relic from the time when the Australian land mass was part of the great southern super continent of Gondwana.
After Gondwana broke up and Australia drifted north, its climate began to dry and the rainforests retreated to isolated areas of high rainfall and altitude such as the area of the Tweed Caldera.
One day I'll work out how to capture the majesty of the rain forest
The intensity of growth in high rainfall areas has always intrigued me. I fear to stand still for too long in case I should take root. You're well on the way to doing justice to the rain forest. Fav
Beautiful capture love the moss on the trees.
