Built in 1923, the heritage-listed Brisbane Arcade is one of the city's oldest shopping destinations.
Brisbane has a dearth of buildings of this nature with our fabulous Premier of the 1970-s and 80s hell bent on knocking them down in the name of "development".
@hermann Hi Sally. I recently finished reading "All Fall Down", the last of the trilogy by Mathew Condon on the Terry Lewis and the Rat Pack years. Compelling stuff. Well worth reading but make sure you read the three books in order, "Three Crooked Kings", "Jacks and Jokers" and then "All Fall Down"
@terryliv Thanks Poppo, over the years have heard reviews of these three books when Mathew Condon has been interviewed on 612 ABC radio. I really must source these books, will have a lot more time on my hands soon and may find quality time to pick up a book again :)
Lovely architecture, we have had a succession of terrible Premiers here too. Starting with Jeff Kennet (there is now a saying here to be "Jeffed" which means to be screwed over), and the last two have been as bad as each other.
@peterlgrave Jo Bjelke P? Even met the man once in Kingaroy, when I lived in Murgon.
Great colors Terry. From the same time and in the same style, what a pity that all remains of the Regent and Her Majesty's theatres is the vestibule of the Regent. But I guess we can't blame Jo for that...
@frankhymus Murgon?? Ha Ha Ha I grew up in Kingaroy. Mum and Dad were friends of Joh's. They went to John and Karen's (Joh's son and daughter) weddings. I was the black sheep of the family wrt Joh and politics in general

You captured this well.
