Well actually his hours/minutes were numbered. This is only a relatively small one. I had actually got rid of quite a few before I remembered to take some pics of them for 365
@taffy Sad?? Are you mad? They are disgusting. And just in case you harbour any thoughts of their being harmless. Any birds, dogs, cats etc that eat them, even a carcass, will most likely die a pretty horrible death. That big lump you can see directly above the front legs is a poison sac and when they get defensive, they excrete their poison through the pores of their skin.
As far as they can tell, the only creature that has worked out how to get a meal without carking it is the humble crow.
@gigiflower Being the soft hearted woos that I am, I catch them into a plastic bag and stick them in the freezer - then into the rubbish bin. They reckon that is the most humane way.
All too often when you dong them on the head, you get up the next morning and they have miraculously come back to life and hopped off.
OMG they sound horrible Terry!! Good job getting rid of them but I am so glad it's not something I have to do. I have a vision of your freezer being full of these grinning toads!! LOL!! Are they a native or were they introduced to Australia. I have heard before what a pest they are.
they are a disaster for our environment and have invaded my area too. I have a friend that comes every month or so and we spend a few hours combing the paddocks after dark. I have a good sharp plumbers shovel ...
