Parish Churches - All Saints Church Coddington, Nottinghamshire
Coddington, Nottinghamshire is the birthplace of Rhoda's paternal Great Grandfather who migrated to South Australia very soon after it was proclaimed as a free settlement. He went on to become a very important community figure in Kyneton Victoria and was their first member elected to the Victorian Parliament. He was the patriarch of the Australian family.
The original Coddington Church was built in the 13th-14th century but fell into disrepair and was replaced by this church in 1864. Consequently, while the parish and the location is relevant to the baptism of Rhoda's G Grandfather in 1811, he would have been baptised in the old church and was long gone by the time this one was built.
Very frustrating when this happens :-(
@gigiflower For a start, I don't have Photoshop. I use a package called ACDsee which is much more basic and easy for us old folk to learn. It comes with a few editing styles one of which is called Solarise. I just click Solarise on the photo and this is the result.
In just about every church shot, the sky is grey, never blue, which is pretty bland. I think the black sky is much better. Notice that it also turns background objects, such as trees, silver. I am trying to resist the temptation of applying it to all these church shots.
In the shot yesterday, I applied Solarise and then Sepia to get the black sky sepia effect.
What do you reckon
@terryliv The reason I was asking Poppo is because I really like it!!! It really makes your churches stand out :) I have LR and PS however always struggle to work out how to do a black background - you are clever!
Very impressive processing giving lots of wonderful colour and detail Terry, my wife was born and raised 18 miles away in Lincoln we visit her mum regularly if we can help with information from Coddington let me know:)
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. Rhoda has links to Lincolnshire also. Beckingham, Claypole, Sedgebrook, Scopwick and Caistor that I can readily find. May be others. We have visited them all except Caistor.
Great photo and processing and just as much interesting reading in all the comments with you and Sam @gigiflower :) Kyneton is definitely "trendy" now! Think you need to come to Vic for a visit to Kyneton, Warrnambool & Mornington Peninsula :)
