Still on our rafting trip down the Colordo River at Glen Canyon.
If you look closely, you can see all the people on top of the cliff taking photos of the famous Colorado River, Horseshoe Bend. If I had been here a few weeks earlier, Peter Dullis would have been one of those up top hanging over the edge as he took his excellent photo of this famous feature. Our optional excursion was a half day rafting trip down the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam. No rapids here, just a leisurely drift on calm water down the river from the dam wall for about 10kms or so.
Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us. Overcast on the way down and rain all the way back.
What an amazing experience to be able to see the canyon from that point of view. The weather didn't affect the quality of your images, in fact I suspect that the detail of the rock face is probably enhanced by the flat lighting.
I've been one of those crazy people up on top. It's quite a hike through some deep dry sand. I've never seen it from below, though I studied it from the top to try to figure out how to get down there. We could see people down at the bend. I wanted to see that perspective, and now you've let me do so.
