No theme week here at The Darkroom, but the theme for my History of Photography class was 19th century Art Photography. Allegories and romanticism were major themes. And combining negatives was also popular. This image is very loosely based on Henry Peach Robinson's 1858 photo "Fading Away". https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/302289
Great image. Reminds me of the song written by Alistair Hulett (1951-2010) about the deaths of young men who died of exposure to blue asbestos at the Wittenoom WA asbestos mine. Here sung by June Tabor, but a warning, it is not a cheerful song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKpZHQKJG6Q
