Our house faces east and the sun wakes us up really early in the summer. After 22 years of living here, we’ve finally got some blackout curtains. Hurrah!
Good idea. View to be appreciated...(Do I see some oi; seed rape ou tthere?) but black out curtains will be valued when the sun comes back. I have an East/ West facing house, and got my husband to install several black out curtains last summer...he moaned a lot, but I was happy!
We made only a couple of mistakes when we renovated this bungalow but Harry didn’t want blackout blinds…..he gets up early but I should have overruled him! You will sleep much better tonight! We face south in the guest bedroom but north in ours but it does get light very early.
@happypat You should, and I should have too. Dirk is also an early riser because he usually drops off to sleep early whereas I am usually awake until midnight, reading. These 5 am wake ups are doing me in!
@tinley23 Me too a bit Lesley but I’m more concerned about our guests in the south facing bedroom. Can’t do much here as we have blinds & too expensive to change them. By the time we were choosing blinds we were decision silly & I should have insisted!
@happypat Ah I fully understand. We are about to have some new radiators, and I’m so done by all the work we’ve had done in the last few years (not a patch on yours mind) that I’ve allowed myself to be brow-beaten into having functional, rather than aesthetically pleasing, radiators. I just can’t face the discussions/arguments. The guest bedrooms at the back have always had blackout curtains/blinds 🙄
@tinley23 Oh yes those lovely vintage or even upright radiators…..we could go on & on! As long as it’s warm & they aren’t rusty they will unnoticeable by you when it’s all finished! I shall perhaps by some eye masks! 🤣🤣🤣
