The Cardboard Boat Regatta by yogiw

The Cardboard Boat Regatta

This weekend brought a "celebration of the good life on the Ohio" with New Richmond's Riverdays festival. The highlight was the Cardboard Boat Regatta which I've always wanted to see. 70 boats (it didn't look like that many), all made of cardboard, were entered to race in their class on the Ohio River. We didn't stay as long as I'd hoped β€” I started to melt in the hot August sun. Still a fun day that I can now cross off my bucket list.
This looks like it would be very fun to watch! Sorry it was too stinkin' hot to stay. The participants probably wouldn't mind if their boat were to sink...they get to cool off in the water!

@gardenfolk Ande said it felt even hotter than it was because it was all pavement on top then you walked down to the river bank which had no trees and then the reflection off the water. It felt like 100ΒΊ in the sun even though it was in the mid-90's. You've gotta really like the outdoors to be at this festival all day!!

@yogiw Too bad there is no shade or trees to sit under...bummer! Standing in the sun is too much for all day!

@gardenfolk Oops, it was mid-80s not mid-90s! There was a small park that had a gazebo and a big shade tree that we found to sit under. That made the day a little better but we still didn't get to stay as long as we hoped.
